ikea ribba love

as luck would have it, ikea has a frame which fits my 12 x 12 works PERFECTLY.  and cheap!  woo hoo!

i'm hoping these will make them look more professional when i start taking them around to galleries, shops, etc.  i'm loving the matting and shadowbox effect as well.  oh you swedes, is there nothing you can't perfectly design?

seaside shenanigans

wow wow wee waa... there has been some art makin in da house!  I've photographed the commercial papers before and then after my initial layers of paint and spray painting (the start of many layers to come).  Unfortunately, the lighting inside last night was not wonderful (the brightest place in my cousin's dramatically lit condo was the kitchen) - so the color is pretty off.  The tones are a lot brighter/pastelly - less dark and murky (similar to the original paper references).  In addition to the stencils I've started adding my decals and ooh boy, let me just say...

what do you think?

wishing i had a cricut right about now...

spent the evening cutting out stencils - BY HAND (with the exception of the commercial stencils pictured last) - for an upcoming project.  here's a sneak peek.  and yes, that is in fact Annette Funichello.

start me up.

after a hectic few weeks I'm finally back in my "studio" (even if by studio I actually mean my cousin's dining room).  notice my "assistants" below.  starting a christmas gift for some special people in my life so i thought i'd share how its been progressing after the last few nights.  pardon the low lighting!

although i love where it is now, this is the first of many layers to come.  below are the inspiration photos from the collection of the lucky recipient (shhhh... its s secret ;).
